About SW32 Construction Project Management

Kingham Construction

On leaving school Paul started out on his career in the Construction Industry by taking on the role of Trainee Estimator with Kingham Construction. This role meant the organisation of tender packages for projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £5million, analysis and comparison of returned enquiries, selection of companies / quotes to use in our tender and conversing with sub-contractors in relation to our tender enquiries.

To broaden his knowledge of the industry Paul then spent a year working on a variety of sites (new builds, refurbishments, car parks and boundary walls). His responsibilities included setting out works, compilation of site diaries and other site records (including concrete test cubes) and dealing with people (both directly and over the telephone).

Following on from this experience, the next area of training was working within the buying department. Here the focus was on obtaining a variety of materials for a wide scope of projects (New builds, refurbishments and Civil Engineering projects). He was also responsible for hire of plant. Paul also called upon his new found estimating experience when constructing tender packages and obtaining quotations for inclusion in company tender documentation.

Kingham Construction Ltd was a construction company based in High Wycombe which was established in 1977. In 1988 they became part of the Hatfield Group.

Hatfield Construction Limited was founded in 1980 and developed into a major regional construction company operating, from its headquarters in Hatfield, throughout North London and the Northern Home Counties. In 1988 the Hatfield Group took the decision to bring Kingham Construction into its organisation to extend the Groups area of operation into the West of London and the Thames Valley. Both companies operated successfully in the Public and Private sectors. In April 1990 both companies became members of the Lilley Group and in keeping with group policy, retained their own identity and a high degree of autonomy. At the same time they gained the backing of a multi-national organisation in terms of both overall corporate management and finance.
